Mama Mia Another 30 Plus Day of Striper Fishing !!!

Another Sunup Bass Blitz ;)

Headed out Saturday Nov 26 and it was just Perfect Light winds water temp 54
Sunny very warm. We were greated with the Sun Up Blitz. Catching went on for 2
hours to the east then we made a pit stop for some Gas and headed back out to Catch even
more ;)

Green Bucktails with Double Uncle Josh got all 4 Keepers. Double Uncle
Josh ? What the heck are you talking about? Sometimes we add a second Josh to
make it flutter a bit more. Yesterday it was solid Yellow with Spit red on top. We actually picked off more bass at the slack tide straight out front in my SPOT than any where else.
Nappe landed 3 keepers while I was on White with red all day no keepers Neil
too. Not Until the last Hour I switched over BAM got my keeper.

Once again EXTRA SLOW was the crank speed.

BLACK FRIDAY !!! NOV 25 2011

Now That's what I call BLACK FRIDAY !!!

Black Friday People rushing all over trying to save a buck all the pushing and shoving and crazyness for me I was hopping to see the above photo. I call Black Friday, Black Sky Friday cause I know all I have to do is find the birds and I will find the Fish !!! So just as the sun started to rise this is what we saw. Now just before we headed out into the wild blue yonder I stopped at the west cut seems all of my bigger fall fish came from the bay so when I saw all the bait and birds working I just had to give it a try. In less than 5 Minutes Jr had a 18lbs bass slam his White bucktail right next to the boat and it was GAME ON!!! I didn’t think it was going to be that big but was pleasntly suprised to see a nice quality fish being that there was so many smallers ones being caught.

After that we all tried hard but no more fish came up we headed out into the ocean to find our AM Blitz just to the east of the inlet 1/2 way down to Cupsouge Pavillion 12′ of water close to shore.

Cosin Dan had his fare share along with Pete too. Close to shore all on Bucktails and Storm Shads
The wind started to pick up right away and the SW rollers got big quick. Made for a slow ride all over the ocean. We picked fish all over but no more keepers.

So about 11am the tide all most done and all the birds disappeared. So we headed in. On the way home stopped again said 1 last shot and long behold a Fat 30″ to round out the day ;)

Happy Turkey Day for Pablo

Pablo's Turkey Bass

Woke up today 5AM and saw No Wind, I quickly text Jr cause it’s Thanksgiving Day and it’s been a Tradition on that day we fish. Today my calls and Texts went unanswered ??? I went down to the Ocean to see the conditions for myself. To my Surprise the North wind calmed the Ocean and it looked good. I kept calling him and got to the boat and dilly dallied around to waste some time but still no call back 6:30-6:45 so off I went.  It was end of incoming tide so I made a few casts and Bam Fish on it was small but still I was happy NO SKUNK for Pablo :) .

After that 1 Striper it got quiet and I moved around a bit looking for a few fish but NADA. All of a sudden I get a call from Jr around 7:30 AM I told him He broke the TRADITION he said he went out Surf Casting last night with 7 other guys and No fish, it was cold and he was too tired to get up. While I was on the phone with him the birds started to show up and I quickly told him I had to go… Has I caught each Fish I made sure to post it on Facebook and send him text messages just to rub it in HE BROKE TRADITION lol.

I ended up catching 10 Stripers nothing big but a few teen size fish keeping 1 33″ releasing the rest. All fish were caught on 1.5 oz Bluefrog Bucktails with Red Uncle Josh Trailer. Back at the dock I found some Interesting things in the stomach.

Can You Identify this? The Middle one is tuff and it’s not a squid it has a Skeleton, some kind of fish. Also cut out the row of the fish. Not sure if I could eat it but maybe ??? It doesn’t look so appetizing? What you think would you eat it???

Well It was getting late and I could Smell the Turkey Cooking so I flew home hoped in the shower and off to Grandmothers house we go.

And Finally in other News I have my 1st Jar of Herring in the refrigerator, Oh how I love that stuff :)

Well tomorrow is Black Friday, this is what I want to see on Black Friday.

Good News the Striped Bass are Back !!!

1st I would Like to say HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone !!!

Headed out with Good Friends Peter park and his Girl Semi Chow. I heard the Bite was back on so we headed out early 6AM. We were the 1st Boat to greet a Birds and Bass all over. 1st one was a Throw Back but the 2nd was was a Keeper. Check out Semi’s Video

The east wind Picked up right away and with the out going tide made the breakers a little rough so we fished the back side but wasn’t able to SAFELY get close enough for my liking. I spotted some Gannets diving out in about 40′ of water and headed over. Semi Hooked up on a A-67 Diamond Jig with Green tube to a HUGE blue it wore the poor girl out lol.

After that the sea’s picked up from 2 to 4′ to 3 to 5′ and made it a bit uncomfortable so we headed in to try some back bay spots but had no luck at them. Also saw a Beautiful Sunrise

Thing are picking up all over has I hear reports that Big Fish are being caught. Now the time to get back out there. Let’s Hope for some BIG TURKEYS STRIPERS tomorrow and the next few days

They’re Back !!!

Don’t get All Crazy I’m Talking about the Herring

Well with the Non-Existent Striper November run and the Holidays approaching I turn my fishing to one of my must have this time of year Christmas Herring.  With a definite pungent kick of Vinegar and Spices my pickled Herring has a flavor most people are 50/50 about it either Love it or Hate it. I myself absolutely love em. I have a Video on how I make this wonderful Seasonal dish I will post here for you to see.

Now this was my 1st Outing this year and it produced 6 Herring just about enough to make 1 small Jar so I will be going back to make a few more trips to add to my catch. Hopefully I can get about 20 to 30 then I will have more than enough for myself, friends and family.

Interesting Sand Eels were in the Bellies

Yesterday while I was Filleting the fish I found Sand Eels in there bellies ? I was very Surprised Because I thought they only ate small Plankton type of fish? Well you learn something new everyday. I know the Sand Eels do not Migrate so I guess that’s why they are in just about all your game fish this time of year. If your thinking about catching some Herring try your local docks best tide is end of flood seemed to be best for me. Also a Sabiki Rig which you can purchase from any tackle store. Yesterday Herring wanted small Hooks and little hair was the killer rig.
