BIG BASS 28 lbs Durring the Storm Sat Oct 29 2011
with the pending Big Nor’easter coming I made the 5 AM call to try a sneak a trip in before the heavy rain and wind. Sent a few messages out had Neil respond and Jr on stand by. Jr who just the other day landed that BIG 26 lbs Striper was surf fishing from the east Jetty all night long with No luck. I tried to get him to come but he was up all night and either too tired or just didn’t think the fish were there because it was a SLOW night??? Anyway I just wanted him to know that he had the 3rd spot that day
Neil and I (Pablo) tried several spots again in the bay but not a tap. We were 1 of 3 boats when we hit the inlet at 1st light. Headed straight for the exact spot with Kat. Looked Very promising Birds all over Gannets diving oh I got excited seeing Gannets slamming the water. Whats a Gannet you say? It’s a bird the dives from high altitude slams into the water completely submerges it self and catches bait fish. They look like small Kamakazi’s. They usually mean there’s blitzing Stripers around but not today they were sporadically hitting the water and we investigated a few spots but no fish???
The wind started to HOWL and the ocean was getting snotty so I said lets go back into the bays and work the areas we saw all the bait in. Just then jr calls from the jetty go to the spot I’m telling you go to the spot… So I Went to the spot lol.
we had a severe wind against tide situation. It was like we were fishing on anchor with a ripping incoming tide and North wind. This actually was a good thing for it held us in the strike zone till the fish showed up. This took a while for the drifts were SLOW and LONG with out nothing to show for our efforts.
Then just around 9 AM we were just about to give up as the rain just started to come down when my reel started to scream and my line was zipping out. I set the hook HARD, Pablo On!!!
The fish fought HARD and we were getting close to shore for we caught her in 8′ of water. Neil slowly moved the boat away from the shore and I was able to fight the fish but the current made this 28 lbs fish feel like 100 lbs and every inch was a battle. Now I see were getting to close to the buoy and I had to have Neil move the boat again. I told him to go forward slow and I was in danger of losing my fish as she could get easily tangled around the buoy. I decided to hold my thumb on the reel not allowing and line to come off, I knew this would stress the line and knots out but it was my only choice so I did it. We only had to move a couple of feet so it wasn’t that much stress and I was then able to get the fish to the net and Neil did a FANTASTIC job helping me land this fish. If I was alone I probably would have lost her. Check out the pics
After that we re set and Neil had a fish on nothing big but a keeper hey on that day any fish was good lol. We rest again and had 2 short run offs, never getting the chance to set the hooks. The rain started to come down heavy now and we decided to call it a day. Thank God for the cabin I felt sorry for those center console guys. Back at the dock we took several pics and busted out the rain gear as it POORED down on me while I cut the fish. I was nice and dry underneath my grundens and did a good job on the filets. Stomach contents showed a Fluke and some sand eels.
Time is running out book your trip NOW

Kat Is Back
Had The Pleasure of fishing with my better half Friday afternoon Oct 28 2011. I got the call the bite was on and my wife just happen to call me and she wanted to go. We tried several spots in the Bay but found no takers so we headed to the inlet and were greeted by birds all over the outside bar. Thank God it wasn’t rough just a slight chop on the water so we could work the zone really well and safe.
On her 1st cast she hooked up, then her 2nd.3rd,4th,5th and 6 cast she had a striped bass. I almost didn’t get a chance to fish lol. I did manage 2 fish but Kat was High Hook and I was so happy for her it’s been a while since she was on the boat so that kind of action was FANTASTIC. We left them biting we had to get the kids off the bus.
All fish were caught on 1.5oz Green/White Blue Frog Buck Tails with Yellow uncle Josh pork Rind and RELEASED.
So Glad I got to Fish with you again Honey !!! This week coming should really be off the hook
Book your trip now for there’s less than 1 month of the BEST fishing and its over

Eeling at Night Pays off Big Time!!!
Well it was all smiles for Jr.Sanchez Monday Night Oct 24 2011 as he shows off one of his biggest fish to date a Beauty 44″ Striped Bass. WAY TO GO JR!!!
I look tired in this picture someone told me lol. I was wide awake with Adeline flowing in this picture. See I got a call from Jay he was on his way home from Montauk and all he could do was watch the Fish Schools out of reach of his surf Rod. I told him I just got a call my Buddie Killed them last night on eels and he was going back. I said I’m going you can join me he called his wife and he was in. Then I sent Jr a text hey want to go to the Inlet tonight? With out hessatation he said I’ll be there 7:15 pm, Perfect I said see you at the Boat.
We headed to the spot I had caught 2 Barely keepers in the AM and drifted our Big Eels from Craig at Smith Point Bait and Tackle on Wm. Floyd Pky. We drifted for 2 hours with out a touch. I was just getting ready to say lets move when I took out this Black Darter Plug and asked Jr + Jay how do use these plugs? Since I never tried this type of plug before? Pablo, Jr says you cast it up stream and let it flow behind the boat and reel it in slow allowing the current to make it wobble side to side. Ok I can do that. See I get board with the bait and wait game so I like to cast around sometimes I’ll find a few fish that way but I made several casts and it was hard to tell what the plug was doing when you can’t see it. So Jr says let me throw it. So Jr puts his rod in the holder and starts casting well I bet you guess what happened next ? Jr just finishes making a big cast when his reel starts peeling line and all you hear is the clicker screaming, I pick up his rod and go better reel fast come over here and set this hook. Jr didn’t know weather to reel the plug or run over and grab the rod lol. I go put the rod in the holder as his line started picking up speed and get over here. As soon as I pass him his rod mine starts clicking off. Now the both of have fish taking line and I wasn’t 100% sure we didn’t have one fosh wrapped around 2 lines? So I set the hook and Jr sets his were on two different sides of the boat so its all good 2 sepreate fish. Both fish are big and we have a good fight on our hands. It’s hard to see what going on so I’m telling Jay reel up and flick the lights on so we know what the Hell is going on. Jay does that and I see I have a Big Fish and Jr says OH MY GOD!!! Jay Nets mine 1st quick out and he Nets Jr’s too. Good Job Guys lets reset and get 1 for Jay. The both fish had the hooks so deep I just but them in the well with the hooks deep inside them NO WAY was i going to get that out at night plus I had several all ready rigged to go. Turned out to be a Smart Move we didn’t miss a beat switching riggs and now it was Jays turn.
Jay’s line started peeling the next drift working that same exact spot. He sets the hook and now is fighting the fish hard when half way through the fish just pops off. It was a big fish you can tell when that Capt.Neil Rod bend way down… Jay said a few choice words but we quickly re set again and this time he didn’t get away
We made a few more drifts after that water temp 58. It was getting late now around 11 pm and we had a lot of cutting to do back at the dock so we called it a night.
Can’t wait to go back out
Book Your trip now as the fish are going to be leaving in about 30 days or less

Mama Mia the Albies are Back in Town
Headed out Friday Oct 7 2011 with Dave, Betty, Sy aka Pappa Simion and Ray out this morning for more of that incredible Striper action. The only problem with today was the Fish were not cooperating so when we hit the Spot where they been for the past 2 weeks we came up empty handed? So I began to look around and noticed some birds working a bit out . headed over and like the day before and we all started throwing right into the school of breaking fish. Water boiling like Macaroni and no one was hooking up??? Very fustrating Dave was able to connect with a 32″ Striper on a Youzurri Minnow but no one else caught anything. We did have a few fish on the plugs but they popped off durring the battle.
Sy or Pappa Simion as they were calling him hooked into something and his line was peeling out very fast. The fish made circles all around the boat and when it finally came up it was a Albie.
So thats why they weren’t hitting the plugs so we all changed over to Deadly Dicks and Yozurris but no one else connected and that was it. We headed back to the bar and it was dead nothing being caught so we tried 1/2 a dozen different spots before we said uncle and headed back home. I sure hope the bite is on for tomorrow??? We will see Stay Tuned
