Midnight but for Capt.Chris and I this would be our last trip for he too pulled
the boat after we gave it 1 more try.
Capt.Chris Called me about 1:30 PM,
Hey Pablo what are you doing I heard the Stripers are still around? To be Honest
I had mixed emotions Eh I said probably all Throw backs. No Man I heard there
was some Bigger fish caught. Yeah Right I said, Look my boat still in it’s 50
degrees out, the ocean is flat I’m going. Your gonna cry Pablo if the fish are
there. My Wheels start Turning, Should I go? Nah the fish left, But what if
there’s one more push ? The water temp still 50 you should go? Arrrrrr, Last
chance Pablo? ok,ok,ok what time? 3 PM meet me at my dock.

I finish up work and hurry to my house grab my Rod and zip down on his boat. I had to laugh as it
was the ONLY boat left still in the water. Capt.Chris pulls in right behind me
and says I WIN ! I said you win what? He says I’m the last one still in Ha Ha Ha…

I guess you do, lets go day light wasting. We hit the Ocean to find some birds working the Sand bar out front of Moriches Inlet. Pull up and make some casts nada. It’s out going and the waves are about 3′ spread out with big gaps but just Big Enough that you had to keep an eye out. We didn’t want our last trip to be the LAST TRIP lol.Decided to work the back side of the breakers for a while and no luck too. Then we saw a few Gannets diving around 30 to 40′ depths and tried Diamond Jigging that area nada. I made a couple of casts and all of a sudden I cast and There goes my A-27 Diamond jig bye bye???
Ok so now I have to re rig and I’m looking back at the Bar. Hey Chris look over there the bird activity has picked up lets move back over there. We were running out of time the sun was setting and we decide to go back through the Breakers just as we get to the inside I cast my White 1.5 oz Bucktail with Yellow Uncle Josh and Bam I’m on.
We land the fish no big deal Maybe 24″ but it was nice to
land anything on your last trip of the season. I quickly Snap a pic with my cell
phone left good camera in car… and release it. I then went to put my rod in
the holder and my bucktail just fell into my hand. I said wow that was close I
bet 1 of my guides has a chip in it. Later back at the dock I checked my guides
to find a Micro cut on one of them. Anyway we stayed just till the sun Kissed
the water then said our good byes to the sea and headed back to the barn.

Anyway It was a Good Ending and I still have some Cod trips to look forward too

It’s Official The Last Bass of 2011 Season for Pablo
Someone once said, All good things must come to an end. So Sunday Dec 4 2011 I wasn’t going to make a last trip after Friday’s poor outing but my good friend called me said I have 12 Eels there’s no wind and no waves so I was up at 5am and said ok 1 more time.
The Bay water temp was still high 49 degrees and we tried every spot I had fish at on our way to the Moriches Inlet. But besides the Beautiful sunrise not much else was chewing.
So has we got closer to the inlet we broke out the eels and drifted them through the inlet and out towards the breakers but no takes on the eels.
There was a few birds working on the back side of the small breakers and we moved aound to the back side as we had out going tide and we able to fish with out much worries.
There were 3 or 4 boats total and I saw 1 guy hook up. There still here I said and we moved in and the next thing I know Dean is hooked up as line is pulling out I said enjoy the fight it might be the last one. Sure enough after throwing bucktails for 2 more hours it was and we packed it in for the season.
Even though the Ocean Temps were 50/51 degrees and there MIGHT be some small bass still around I decided with only 10 days left to call the Boat Hauler and get on the list.
I would just like to say thank you to everyone here
and wish everyone Happy Holidays
and a Very Merry Christmas
Heres to an even better 2012

Looks Like another Season has come to an end
With just 12 days left to the season, diminishing reports and lack of fish. I decided to call Mike M+L Marine to wrap it up for the season. Has much as I don’t want it to end the time has come to try chasing other fins and other spiecies. 2011 was a great season I had more big fish than I ever saw in all my fishing right in my own back yard. The spring run was full of fish in the Bay alot of Blues and top water plugs produced many stripers in the bay. June 15 to July 15 was the time to fish Moriches as the BIG STRIPERS were all over mega Bunker pods with fish over 40 lbs all most a daily occurance. Fluke was good as usual in early June and again in Aug the trick was to catch the end of the incomming tide and find the bait.
Sharking wasn’t that good although I only made a few trips, we landed one keeper Mako July 1 just in time for the BBQ. The Hot summer made for a picky bite after the bunker left and Sea bass were in abundance out on the wreck.
September was bait catching time once again the back bays were LOADED with peanut bunker and other small fish to load my well. This was a good thing to see so much life back in the bays. Then came October which was just unbelieveable Top Water Action with Plugs producing many, many Bass for everyone, it was just so exciting to catch a fish on Top Water Plugs. November started off with a good run mostly in the bay but soon bad winds and weather kept us tied to the docks and when we did get out the fishing was less than optimual with little to show for it. That was untill Thanksgiving once we were able to head back into the ocean the fish were there and Bucktails and Storm Shads were the trick SLOW retrieve was the ticket. The sand eel bite that we grew accustume to moved to NJ and they had some Awesome fishing off there beaches like thay haven’t seen in years.
So now that December has moved in and Christmas just a few days away I decided to put my lures away and clean and oil all my reels for next Season. This doesn’t mean I won’t be out once in a while chasing Cod’s or Blackfish but just not in the same way I chase the Striped bass. So with that being the way it is I’m calling my 2011 Season and now am looking foward to 2012 and beyond.
Tight Lines everyone
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

Mama Mia Another 30 Plus Day of Striper Fishing !!!
Headed out Saturday Nov 26 and it was just Perfect Light winds water temp 54
Sunny very warm. We were greated with the Sun Up Blitz. Catching went on for 2
hours to the east then we made a pit stop for some Gas and headed back out to Catch even
more
Green Bucktails with Double Uncle Josh got all 4 Keepers. Double Uncle
Josh ? What the heck are you talking about? Sometimes we add a second Josh to
make it flutter a bit more. Yesterday it was solid Yellow with Spit red on top. We actually picked off more bass at the slack tide straight out front in my SPOT than any where else.
Nappe landed 3 keepers while I was on White with red all day no keepers Neil
too. Not Until the last Hour I switched over BAM got my keeper.
Once again EXTRA SLOW was the crank speed.
