How to Throw a Cast Net and use the Live bait to Catch Fish

It’s been a while since  I’ve been out on the water and it sure felt great to get back out there and catch some fish.  I took my boat out of the water because of Hurricane Irene  and I’m glad I did because we had some serious flooding and damage along the south shore of Long Island.

Well Now I’m back in and I’m happy to report that the bay is Thriving with life. I headed up one of the many creeks and canals we have and found tons of juvenile bunker I like to call Pea Nut Bunker. With 1 throw of my 8′ Betts cast net I was able to fill my well with about 30 to 40 Pea Nut Bunkers and was off to the Inlet.

I made several drifts but only landed 2 small Blues. I tried out side in the ocean but the breakers were rough and just not worth it so I decided to drift the Bay for Fluke. I was fishing 6 to 20′ of water but mostly less than 10′ of water. The total for the day was 3 flukes 2 keepers 26″ 5 lbs and 23″ also the 3rd one was 20.25″ and went back…

I also had my Favorite Chinese Food Place make me some Fluke Sesame which is Out of this world.

Good even better than Striped bass Sesame Wow did I just say that???

Fluke Sesame OMG GOOD!!!

Good to be back on the water.
